Angeles Dodgers Baseball Caps, Merchandise and Apparel
The
LA Dodgers have a solid baseball team that should compete well against
the Diamondbacks, Padres,
Rockies, and Giants
for the NL West division championship. Key players for the 2007 Dodgers
are Russell Martin, Nomar Garciaparra, Rafael Furcal, Derek Lowe ,
Brad Penny, Takashi Saito, Luis Gonzalez, Juan Pierre, and Jeff Kent.
The Dodgers have not won the world series

Information
The Dodgers
got their name from the early 20th century and their days in Brooklyn.
Pedestrians had to dodge trolleys that crisscrossed the city before
the car was invented and were called trolley dodgers.
The beloved
Brooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles in time for the home opener
on April 18, 1958. In just their second year in LA the Dodgers
defeated the Chicago White Sox in the World Series.
Playing in
the old LA Memorial Coliseum the Dodgers attracted a record crowd
of 92,394 to game 3 of the 1959 World Series. That’s over
36,000 more fans than Dodger Stadium, built a few years later,
can hold.
The legendary
Jackie Robinson played for the Dodgers from 1947 through 1956.
He was the first African American to play in the Major Leagues
and was inducted into the Hall of Fame on July 23, 1962.
After being
struck in the throat by a piece of broken bat, Dodgers catcher
Steve Yeager invented a hanging throat protector on a catcher’s
mask to prevent similar injuries. Buy Dodgers Tickets Early offensive
problems along with a string of injuries made it tough for the
Dodgers in 2002 but they were able to overcome these setbacks
and maintain contention for the NL West and the Wild Card spot
into the playoffs. Unfortunately the Dodgers finished just 3 games
out of the playoffs finishing in 3rd place. The year wasn’t
all bad as Eric Gagne starts to make a name for himself as possibly
the most dominant closer in the game. On May 23rd Shawn green
hit 4 HRs, a double, and a single to set the single game record
for total bases at 19. 2003 proved to be even more of a struggle
than 2002 as the Dodgers offense puts up a league worst 574 runs
all season. Despite having the worst offense in baseball, the
Dodgers pitching staff becomes the best in the league posting
a team ERA of just 3.16. Eric Gagne continues his closing duties
for the team recording 55 saves in the same number of opportunities.
Shawn Green was not exempt from the team wide hitting slump as
he hits only 19 homers all year. The dodgers would finish the
year with a record of 85-77. Forgetting the struggles of 2003
the Dodgers played very solid ball basically all year long as
they finish the regular season 93-69, good enough to win the NL
West Division. The Dodgers would meet up with the high powered
St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS. After dropping the first two
in St. Louis the Dodgers faced elimination from the 5 game series
as it came back to the west. An exciting and stellar pitching
performance by Jose Lima ignites a spark within the Dodgers as
they win game 3 and keep their hopes alive. However, in game 4
the power bats of the Cardinals rally and outscore the Dodgers
for the win. In the off season would bring drastic lineup changes
to the Dodgers as general manager Paul DePodesta restructures
the entire team. 6 of the everyday starters on opening day were
traded along with opening day starting pitcher Hideo Nomo, ALDS
game 3 winner Jose Lima and 12 other players. Newly acquired J.D.
Drew can hopefully provide the bat the Dodgers are looking for
as they start rebuilding for 2005.

<p>After seeing plenty of obstacles put in his way over the last two years, Blake DeWitt looks to be the favorite for the starting second base job.</p>
<p>Spring training is still young, but it seems as if DeWitt will get every chance to earn the job over candidates such as Ronnie Belliard and Jamey Carroll, both of whom could end up as utility men.</p>
<p>DeWitt started the spring training opener March 5 on a day when manager Joe Torre's lineup had all of the other projected opening-day starters. DeWitt played solid defense and went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run.</p>
<p>"DeWitt played both sides of the ball really well," Torre said. "He's worked very hard at second base. He's really applied himself, and I'm really impressed."</p> <p>He started the 2008 season as the Dodgers' surprise...

Felling better than he has in years, Rafael Furcal is poised to put two years of frustration behind him. The Dodgers shortstop suffered a lower back injury in 2008 that eventually required surgery. He played all of the 2009 season but admits now that he wasn't at full strength. Those last two Dodgers teams advanced to the NL Championship series, and while Furcal played in the playoffs both...
Dodgers catcher Russell Martin is expected to miss opening day after an MRI revealed a pulled groin. Martin first felt discomfort during a running drill a few days before the Dodgers' first spring game Friday. He started Friday's game against the White Sox and played five innings, even stealing a base.
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs game Sunday has been rained out. The game at HoHoKam Park will not be made up. The Cubs were to field a split-squad team. The other half of their team was to play the Chicago White Sox, but that game, at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, also was canceled. It was to be a full-squad game for the Dodgers.
Freddy Garcia, in line to be the Chicago White Sox's fifth starter, gave up a run in his first two innings of the spring to lead the way in a 8-4 split-squad victory Saturday over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jered Mitchell, the White Sox's 2009 first-round draft pick, had a pair of RBI doubles and scored three runs.
Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt insisted divorce proceedings with his wife are not affecting the team's finances. "The vast majority of it has nothing to do with baseball," McCourt said Saturday while visiting with reporters for about 10 minutes during the fifth inning of the Dodgers' game against the White Sox.
Garret Anderson was about to set a deadline that could have ended his 16-year career when the Dodgers came calling. Anderson signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers on Wednesday. He reported to camp Saturday, saying he stayed in shape this winter but did not face pitchers. "I was getting close, getting to a point where I was like, 'OK, if I don't hear something by this point, it...
Matt Kemp had a team-leading 139 strikeouts in 2009 but that won't deter manager Joe Torre from using his budding star in the second spot in the Dodgers' lineup this season. In the first game of the spring Friday, Kemp was batting second behind leadoff man Rafael Furcal and ahead of sluggers Andre Ethier and Manny Ramirez.

The Dodgers suddenly have a logjam of outfielders that could end up affecting the pitching staff come opening day. With the signing of veteran Garret Anderson late Wednesday, the Dodgers could be in position to have five outfielders on their 25-man roster once spring training ends. That scenario might require the Dodgers to carry 11 pitchers into the season opener, instead of the 12 manager Joe...
Hiroki Kuroda is coming off a season to forget, if only everybody would just let him get it out of his mind. The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher had to battle back from three serious injuries at age 34 last year, the most serious of which was a concussion suffered when a batted ball drilled him on the front right side of his head.
