This year has come for the 2008 Chicago Cubs. A talented team with
the likes of Carlos Zambrano, Geovany Soto, Aramis Ramirez, Alfonso
Soriano, Derrek Lee, and Kosuke Fukudome it is easy to see why this

Cubs Information
The Cubs,
who play in the National League, are one of two teams to claim
Chicago, IL as there home city. The Chicago White Sox, of the
American League, also call the Windy City home.
Wrigley Field
has been home to the Cubs since 1914 making it the second oldest
park in baseball, just behind the Boston Red Sox home field of
Fenway Park.
The Cubs
have won their division three times in their franchises history,
winning the title in 1984, 1989 and 2003. The Cubs also earned
a spot in the playoffs as the Wild Card team in 1998. Three times,
in 1984, 1989 and 2003, the Cubs made it to the League Championship
Series, but could not make it to the World Series in any of the
3 attempts.
The Cubs
were National League Champions in 1876, 1880, 1881, 1882, 1885
and 1886.
The Cub have
made it to the World Series 10 times in their history, but have
only managed to win twice, becoming World Champions in 1907 and
1908.
Because the
Cubs have gone nearly 100 years without a World Series title,
they have been dubbed, "the Loveable Losers" due to
their inability to win the Series or even contend for them.
The Cubs
have retired 4 players’ numbers. Those players are Ron Santo
(#10), Earnie Banks (#14), Billy Williams (#26) and Jackie Robinson
(#42) (Robinson’s number was retired in all of baseball).
BUY CUBS TICKETS The Cubs nearly won the National League –
Central Division title during the 2001 season, and hoped to finish
the job in 2002. The Cubs however could not continue the successes
they had the year before and were under.500 for most of the season.
At mid-season, the team saw their manager fired and rookie pitcher
Mark Prior go 6-6. At seasons end, the team manager would change
again, in an effort to get back to 2001 form. The 2003 season
was a resurgence for the Cubs. The Cubs earned a spot in the playoffs
and faced the Atlanta Braves in the National League Division Series.
In that Series, the Cubs would win in 5 games, to earn the right
to play the Florida Marlins in the League Championship Series.
In that Series, the Cubs dreams of finally getting back to the
World Series were shattered as the Marlins beat the Cubs in 7
games. The 2004 season saw the Cubs achieve there first back-to-back
winning seasons since the 1971-72 seasons. Although injuries plagued
the team through much of the season, the Cubs saw the return of
ace pitcher Greg Maddux who earned his 300th career win. Slugger
Sammy Sosa also became the Cubs all time home run leader, passing
the legendary Ernie Banks.
